茨城県笠間市にある「筑波海軍航空隊記念館」が１２月２０日よりオープンしました。ここは、昭和９年（１９３４年）に「霞ヶ浦海軍航空隊友部分遣隊」として開設され、
昭和１３年（１９３８年）に「筑波海軍航空隊」と改称されました。

最初は、霞ヶ浦航空隊の人たちは、練習をおこなうところでしたが、昭和１１年（１９３６年）
からは、海軍飛行予科練習生（予科練）出身者が入隊し、飛行訓練を行いました。
昭和２０年（１９４５年）、太平洋戦争終結とともに、その役目を終えています。
１２月２１日より公開の映画「永遠の０」を記念して、ロケ地となった「旧筑波海軍航空隊」を
５月６日までの予定で特別記念公開をしています。

先日１７日に報道関係者向けに公開がありました。

「筑波海軍航空隊記念館」となっている建物は、「旧司令部庁舎」で当時のまま現存しています。入口には、記念館のペンダントが展示してあり、そのペンダントを巡るエピソードが紹介されています。

２階には、旧司令室や「永遠の０」のロケを再現したセット、貴重な資料や写真の展示などがあります。

また、敷地にも号令台をはじめ貴重な跡があります。
