万葉線は、富山県の高岡駅前から越ノ潟間、１２．８キロを約４２分で結ぶ路面電車です。
自動車と並走する併用軌道を走ったり、ＪＲ氷見線との立体交差や長い鉄橋を渡り、車窓が飽きない路線です。
車両も超低床車両のＬＲＶや旧型の路面電車があり、ネコ電車やドラえもんトラムがといった楽しい電車が走っています。

終点の越ノ潟では、電車を降りると無料の県営フェリー乗船が対岸の堀岡まで運航しています。
以前はこの間に橋があり、越ノ潟から先も電車が走ってました。
現在は、昨年開通した、日本海側最大の斜張橋「新湊大橋」を歩いて渡る事が出来ます。
越ノ潟を降りて、県営フェリーで堀岡へ行き、帰りは「新湊大橋」で富山の眺望を楽しむのも良いでしょう。

万葉線は、来年春開通に向けて、新高岡ステーションビルまで延伸する工事が進んでいます。
完成するとＪＲ北陸本線からの乗換えが便利になります。
